The Corniche runs for 8 km along the sea in central Abu Dhabi. It is the city's favourite place for a stroll, with beaches and the Gulf on one side and the downtown skyscrapers on the other.
There is a wide pedestrian area, cycle paths, playgrounds, cafés and restaurants, parks and fountains, and along the water, Corniche Beach, with everything you need for a beach day.
What you'll find on the promenade
Walking and cycling. A pedestrian zone and cycle paths along the whole promenade; bikes can be hired, including from city bike-share stations.
The beach. Corniche Beach has a free public section and paid family sections. In the evening, a lit "night beach" is open next to the family area.
Parks and cafés. Green parks with fountains and playgrounds, and cafés and restaurants overlooking the Gulf.
How to get there
The promenade follows Corniche Road in the city centre, so it is easy to walk here from downtown or come by taxi or city bus. At its western end is the Breakwater with the Heritage Village and Marina Mall.
Tips before you go
The Corniche is great for a morning run or an evening stroll, but in the middle of the day it gets very hot.
The promenade is often included in Abu Dhabi day tours.
