Visit the Abu Dhabi Zoo if you are in Abu Dhabi or Dubai with children. This is the first private zoo in the Emirates and, what is especially interesting, a contact one. More than 1700 animals live here so you can meet most of them personally.
At the entrance, special food for animals is sold. You may feed the herbivores and monkeys. You can also feed baby animals from a special bottle.
All the animals are well-groomed, the enclosures are spacious, and peacocks proudly walk around the territory.
The park consists of several sections: mammal park, bird park, snake alley, flamingo park, giraffe park, wildlife walks, reptile house, and primate parade.
The zoo also hosts fur seal shows and pony, horse, and camel rides. A separate paid option is feeding a giraffe or taking a jeep mini-safari through the hoofed-animal enclosures.
Children under 2 visit for free; an adult ticket costs approximately 50–65 AED ($14–18) depending on the ticket type, with discounts for children. There is also a fuller Explorer ticket that includes some of the paid activities.
Tickets can be bought online or at the gate.
You can come here by taxi or city bus.
Bus number 225 leaves from the Al Shahama bus station. You need to get off at the Emirates Park Zoo and Resort stop.
You can also take bus number 202, 210, 218, 420, get off at the Street 17 stop in the Al Bahya area, then you need to walk to the Ramez Hyper Market and walk literally 500 meters to the entrance to the zoo.
The zoo is open 9:00 am–9:00 pm on Fridays and Saturdays, and 9:00 am–8:00 pm on other days.
