J1 Beach is a new beach district built on the southern part of the former La Mer beach, in Jumeirah. Since late 2024, licensed beachfront restaurants and clubs have been opening here in phases, in the spirit of a "Dubai Riviera" — with valet parking and its own yacht jetty.
What's at J1 Beach
Six beachfront restaurants and clubs are planned in total: French Riviera-style African Queen, East Asian Bâoli Dubai, Italian Gigi Rigolatto, modern-Mexican Gitano, "Mediterrasian" Sakhalin, and Greek-Mediterranean Sirene Beach by GAIA. This isn't a free public beach — access is paid, through a table or sunbed reservation at a specific venue.
The free beach nearby
The free public beach that used to run along all of La Mer still exists further north, at La Mer North — an open sandy beach with a boardwalk, street art, independent boutiques and cafés (the Laguna Waterpark that ran here in 2017-2023 is now closed).
How to get there
The nearest metro station is Business Bay, then a 10-15 minute taxi ride; bus routes 8, 9 and 88 also run along Jumeirah Beach Road. There's no direct metro access.
Tips before you go
Venues are opening in phases, so not all clubs are running at once — check the current status of a specific restaurant before you go. The best time for the beach here is October to April.
