Dubai is a well-known centre of trade. Arabs love and know how to trade. Therefore, one of the strategically important buildings in Dubai is the World Trade Centre.
It's a large business complex built on Sheikh Zayed Road. The complex consists of the main skyscraper, home to the business centre's offices, the International Convention Centre, exhibition pavilions and a residential complex. It hosts everything from a cookery fair to a horse show, from motivational speakers to Cirque du Soleil performances.
The main office building has 39 floors. Its height is 149 metres, and when it opened, on 26 February 1979 — inaugurated by Queen Elizabeth II — it was the tallest building in the UAE. Today that title belongs to Burj Khalifa, at 828 metres.
Why it's notable
Large exhibitions, city events, fairs and conferences are held here year-round, including GITEX Global — one of the world's largest technology exhibitions, held here annually. Anyone with the necessary funds can organise an event here. The centre has excellent infrastructure: exhibition halls and pavilions, cafés and restaurants, sports grounds and places to relax.

The easiest way to get here is by metro. The station is called World Trade Centre.
