Dubai frame

The Dubai Frame observation deck, also called the Golden Frame of Dubai, is another Dubai record and one of the city's most popular attractions. The 150 m frame stands in Zabeel Park, right on the line between old and new Dubai.

Inside, instead of a dull tour with dates and photos, there is an immersive show about the city's past and future, and at the top a glass bridge looks out over both halves of Dubai.

What to see inside

Old Dubai Gallery. The visit starts at the bottom of the frame: light and sound projections, and even smells, tell how a fishing village turned into a modern metropolis in just a few decades.

Observation deck. A fast glass-walled lift takes you up to the top of the frame. From 150 m, the old districts and Dubai Creek lie to the north, and the skyscrapers of Sheikh Zayed Road and the Burj Khalifa to the south. Part of the bridge floor is glass.

Future Dubai Gallery. On the way down, interactive screens and virtual reality show how the project's creators imagine Dubai in 2050.

Dubai Frame or Burj Khalifa

Travellers often choose between the Dubai Frame and the Burj Khalifa. The Burj Khalifa is taller and stands in the very centre of the city. The Dubai Frame wins on a lower price, an unusual show before and after the observation deck and, of course, the view of the Burj Khalifa.

How to get there

The Dubai Frame is in Zabeel Park; the entrance is through Gate 4. The park is bordered by Sheikh Rashid Road, Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Road and Sheikh Zayed Road.

The nearest metro station to the park is Al Jafiliya. By taxi, ask for "Dubai Frame, Zabeel Park Gate 4" to be dropped right at the entrance.

Tips before you go

Go up on a clear day: in dusty haze the view from the bridge is lost.

The best time is half an hour before sunset: you see the sun go down over the city and reflect in thousands of windows, and then the lights come on.

Food and drinks are not allowed inside. Large bags and strollers must be left at the Gate 4 counter. Dress respectfully, as in other public places in the UAE. Children under 12 must stay with an adult at all times.

Children under 3, as well as people of determination and two companions, enter free. Companion tickets are issued at the ticket counter.
