Souk Madinat Jumeirah is an "oriental bazaar" in the upmarket resort area of Jumeirah, near the best hotels and beaches. Its covered market lanes sit in a modern building designed in Arabian style, blending Eastern traditions with a contemporary feel.
Even if you don't plan to buy anything, drop in for the bazaar atmosphere combined with luxury.
What you'll find in the souk
Shops. Spices and oils, jewellery, clothing, home décor, embroidered robes and silk scarves. Most shops sell handmade or good-quality goods from Pakistan, Afghanistan, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Iran and Europe. Prices are higher than at other souks.
Cafés and restaurants. People come for the food too, from coffee and shawarma to terrace restaurants by the water. Clubs, bars and restaurants often host concerts and shows and stay open late.
Canals and abras. Canals link the souk with the Madinat Jumeirah hotels, and you can ride a traditional abra with views of the Burj Al Arab.
How to get there
The souk is in Al Sufouh, within the Madinat Jumeirah complex next to the Burj Al Arab. A taxi is the easiest way; the nearest metro is Mall of the Emirates, a few minutes away by taxi.
Tips before you go
Come in the evening: lit-up pale stone buildings, carved wooden ceilings, hundreds of lanterns and the view of the Burj Al Arab make for the best Arabian-style photos.
The souk is often part of city tours, such as the Dubai tour with the Blue Mosque and Heritage House.
