Abu Dhabi's Capital Gate skyscraper is known as the "Leaning Tower" — and for good reason. According to Guinness World Records, it is the world's furthest-leaning building: 18 degrees, compared with about 4 for the Leaning Tower of Pisa.
The tower is 160 m tall. You can look at it from outside for free; inside, access is for hotel, restaurant and event guests.
What to see
Architecture. Engineering that absorbs wind and seismic loads keeps the leaning tower stable. The façade is clad in diamond-shaped glass panels that are not only beautiful but also let in so much daylight that little artificial lighting is needed.
Hotel. The building houses Andaz Capital Gate by Hyatt, so you can stay right inside an architectural record.
How to get there
The tower is on Khaleej Al Arabi Street in Al Zahiyah, next to the ADNEC exhibition centre. A taxi or car is the easiest option.
Tips before you go
The best view of the lean is from the side and from a distance: close up it is hard to notice.
