Global Village

The idea behind Global Village is to bring the cultures of the whole world together in one place. It is an entertainment park, a market and an open-air food festival rolled into one. The park runs in seasons, from autumn to spring, when Dubai is not too hot.

There are pavilions from more than 90 countries. Each one aims not only to sell goods and souvenirs but also to tell the story of its country's history, culture and art, so a pavilion is not a stall but a huge building shaped like a famous landmark — pyramids, ancient Greek temples, palaces.

What to see inside

Country pavilions with goods, souvenirs and street food from around the world, from African dishes to Asian and European ones.

Rides for children and adults — Ferris wheels, roller coasters, go-karts, mazes and trampolines, refreshed every season.

Shows and workshops. Performances from different countries, cooking, craft and dance workshops, a fountain light show and fireworks. The schedule is on the official website.

River with gondolas. A man-made river with little bridges runs through the park, and you can take a boat along it.

How to get there

The park is in Dubailand on Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road. During the season RTA runs buses to Global Village from several metro stations; routes and times are published before opening. By car there is a large car park; by taxi, just ask for "Global Village". You can also buy tickets online.

Tips before you go

The best time is the evening: the heat eases, the pavilions light up and the shows begin.

If you like something, haggle. Bring cash: not every stall takes cards.

Mind the dress code: cover your shoulders and knees, as in other public places in Dubai.
