Kite Beach

Kite Beach in Jumeirah is a free beach and one of the most popular with residents. There are no loungers for hire, but there is plenty of space on clean sand, a view of the Gulf and the Burj Al Arab, and an unusual sight — kites and kitesurfers over the water.

The beach is named after kitesurfing: the KSD school (Kite Surf School Dubai) works here, and the wind along this stretch suits the sport.

What you'll find on the beach

Kitesurfing and kites. Bring your own kite or buy one on the beach, or take lessons at the kitesurfing school.

Sport. A 14-km running and cycling track popular with joggers and cyclists runs along the beach, with outdoor sports areas, a diving school and equipment hire.

Facilities and food. Showers and toilets, small cafés (including the popular Sea Level Cafe with fresh juices), shops, playgrounds and a small beach library.

How to get there

The beach is in Jumeirah 3, about 10 km from Palm Jumeirah. A taxi is the easiest option; city buses run along Jumeirah Beach Road.

Tips before you go

Mornings and the time before sunset are the most pleasant: on summer afternoons the sand is scorching and there is little shade, so bring an umbrella.

After the beach, take a trip on the water — for example, a 90-minute speedboat tour around the Palm and to the Burj Al Arab.
