Ajman Museum (Ajman Fort)

Built in the late 18th century as the residence of the ruling Al Nuaimi family, Ajman Fort is the emirate's principal historic landmark. Over the years the building served as a palace, a coastal defence post and a police station, before opening to the public on 20 May 1991 as the Ajman National Museum.

The collection includes Bronze Age finds from the Al Muwaihat cemetery (around 3000 BC), traditional weaponry, manuscripts and everyday objects of the coastal Emirati population. The museum sits on the city's central square, opposite the Gold Souq and a short walk from Ajman Corniche.

Admission is AED 5. Opening hours: Sat–Thu 8:00am–8:00pm, Fri 2:30–8:00pm (worth double-checking before you go, as hours can shift).
