The largest oasis in the emirate is located in the historical part of the city of Al Ain. It's a shady garden with a unique irrigation system, where water comes from wells and is used to water trees and other greenery.
The oasis has shaded lanes and green lawns, ponds, and places to rest. The oasis is part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site "Cultural Sites of Al Ain" (along with Jabal Hafeet and the city's other oases), and the falaj irrigation system itself, which feeds the palm groves through underground channels without pumps, is listed as UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage. The oasis holds around 147,000 date palms in total.
Around the oasis you'll find attractions such as the Al Ain National Museum, the Sheikh Zayed Palace (not as lavish as you might expect), the large Al Jahili Park, and the Al Jahili Fort.
