Siniyah Island is the largest island in the Umm Al Quwain emirate, sitting in the Khor Al Beidah lagoon about a kilometre off the mainland. It's a protected nature reserve with mangroves, an important flamingo habitat and one of the world's largest Socotra cormorant colonies, plus more than 65 archaeological sites, including a pearling settlement and a 6th–7th century Christian monastery — among the oldest known in the Gulf.
The island isn't set up for free wandering: protected zones are off-limits on foot, and the reserve's nature is best seen on a guided boat or kayak tour through the mangrove channels around the island.
Worth noting: the island is actively being developed. A large residential project, Sobha Siniya Island, is under construction on part of it, and a causeway bridge connecting the island to the mainland E11 highway was completed in November 2024. The developer states that roughly 30–50% of the island will remain a nature reserve, but overall access is likely to keep changing in the coming years.
