Mangrove National Park (the Eastern Mangroves) on Abu Dhabi's eastern edge protects roughly 19 square kilometres of mangrove forest — about 75% of the UAE's total mangrove cover. The narrow tidal channels are ideal for kayaking and paddleboarding, and the canopy shelters more than 60 bird species, including flamingos, herons and ospreys.
Entry to the park is free, and it's open daily, roughly from 8:00am to 6:00pm. Kayak rentals with certified operators at the Eastern Mangroves Promenade cost around AED 160–200 for two hours.
The best time to visit is November to April, at sunrise or sunset, when bird activity peaks.
