Al Noor Mosque

The most beautiful mosque in Sharjah was built in 2005. It was commissioned by the wife of the Ruler of Sharjah, Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, in memory of their eldest son, Sheikh Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, who passed away prematurely at a young age.

The mosque was modeled after the famous Blue Mosque in Istanbul. Like the Blue Mosque, Al Noor Mosque has 34 domes, though fewer minarets — just two.

Al Noor Mosque stands on the Al Majaz Corniche, which is a continuation of the Al Qasba Corniche and draws tourists with its beautiful illumination. It's also one of the few mosques in Sharjah open to non-Muslims. You can freely enter the mosque as part of a free English-language tour held every Monday at 10:00.

A typical route looks like this: a walk along the Al Qasba Corniche, then a visit to Al Majaz Park, from where the mosque's corniche is just a stone's throw away. After exploring the mosque, cross the footbridge to Al Noor Island. There you'll find a beautiful park, a butterfly garden, fresh air, plenty of greenery, and breathtaking views of the city and the bay.
