Yas Island is Abu Dhabi's entertainment island, 25–30 km from the city centre. It brings together the country's biggest theme parks, a Formula 1 circuit, a water park, a mall and a beach. Zayed International Airport is about 10 minutes away, so it is easy to fit in even on a short trip.
Why go
The main parks are Ferrari World, with one of the fastest roller coasters in the world, the indoor Warner Bros. World with cartoon and comic-book heroes, the Yas Waterworld water park and the marine park SeaWorld, opened in 2023. They are under cover or shaded, so you can come even in the heat.
Yas Marina Circuit hosts the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix every year, usually the final race of the Formula 1 season at the end of the year. For shopping there is Yas Mall, and for the sea, Yas Beach.
Where to stay and who it suits
Yas is for families with children and thrill-seekers: the parks are right next to each other. The island has hotels of every class, from budget chains to W Abu Dhabi built right over the circuit. The centre of Abu Dhabi and the Corniche are 25–30 minutes away by taxi.
How to get there
A taxi is easiest: 10–15 minutes from Zayed International Airport, 25–30 minutes from central Abu Dhabi and about an hour from Dubai.
