Sandy Beach is a public beach in the small town of Al Aqah on the east coast, about 50 km from Fujairah city, and one of the best beaches in the emirate. The beach is sandy, and the water of the Gulf of Oman is warm and clear.
Its highlight is the view of Snoopy Island, the best spot in Fujairah for snorkelling and diving.
What you'll find on the beach
Sections. Part of the beach belongs to the Sandy Beach hotel and is open only to its guests, part belongs to a campsite where you can stay in a tent, and part is free for everyone.
Underwater life. The coral reefs around Snoopy Island are home to lobsters, octopuses, parrotfish, rays and moray eels, small reef sharks are occasionally seen, and early in the morning there is a better chance of spotting sea turtles.
Diving. Scuba diving is one of Fujairah's most popular activities: you can book shipwreck dives locally or come from Dubai, for example on the discovery scuba diving tour in Fujairah, which usually includes transfers, equipment and an instructor.
How to get there
The beach is in Al Aqah, on the coast road north of Fujairah city. A car or taxi is the easiest option; from Dubai, many people come on diving tours with transfers.
Tips before you go
The best time for snorkelling at Snoopy Island is October to April, when the water is calmer and clearer (visibility is usually 8–15 metres).
There are few facilities on the public part of the beach, so bring water, shade and a snorkelling mask.
