Al Barsha is a residential district along Sheikh Zayed Road between Jumeirah and Dubai Marina. Its centre is Mall of the Emirates with its indoor ski resort.
Why go
Ski Dubai has real snow in the middle of the desert: slopes for skiing and snowboarding, sledging and a penguin encounter — a good plan for the hottest day. Mall of the Emirates itself has more than 600 shops, a cinema and restaurants. The Jumeirah beaches and the Burj Al Arab are 10 minutes away by taxi.
Where to stay and who it suits
Al Barsha is a compromise on price and location: mid-range hotels cost less than by the sea, and the Marina, Jumeirah and Downtown are all equally close. It suits those who get around the city by metro a lot.
How to get there
Mall of the Emirates station on the metro Red Line is linked to the mall by a covered walkway. From DXB airport, a taxi takes about 25–30 minutes.
